Welcome to Dancing Moviebots- South Portland High School's Media Literacy Online Website, named after our monthly newsletter- The Dancing Moviebots!

This website is home to the curriculum and assignments for South Portland High School's Media Literacy class. The class focuses on the importance of Media and it's effect on us as people and us as a culture. For a detailed description of the course, here's a curriculum map in progress which includes state standards, instructional methods, and more. By the end of this course students leave with skills in writing, debate, discussion, and critical thinking. They leave better prepared to support arguements with opinion, fact, and examples for support. And they leave, most importantly, asking questions like "Why?".

News:

• 3/26/08: Added some more curriculum, a hit counter, and some more movies to the database. Also added a link to a forum that will eventually be used for the class.
• 10/11/06: New site! Do you like it? Using Mrs. York's flash class lessons and combining them with instruction in web page design on frames, the new site was uploaded! It only took 90 minutes to complete-- woohaa!
• 3/14/06: Put up the March 2006 edition. Printed copies given to teachers of the school as well as distributed to the library and main office.
• 2/16/06: Put up the February 2006 edition. Printed copies given to teachers of the school as well as distributed to the library and main office.
• 12/20/05: Put up the December 2005 edition. Printed copies given to teachers of the school as well as distributed to the library and main office.
• 11/15/05: Put up the November 2005 edition. Printed copies given to teachers of the school as well as distributed to the library and main office.
• 10/13/05: Put up the October 2005 edition. Printed copies given to teachers of the school as well as distributed to the library and main office.
• 8/31/05: Checked the website to make sure links worked. Will need to update more curriculum and change the assignment PDF this year, most likely! :)
• 4/6/05: Put up the April 2005 edition. Will be printing copies for the school shortly.
• 3/29/05: Started the website- worked with a simple design to compliment Brian M's icon design in the upper left corner of the site. Greys and whites. Nice and clean.
