Course description: This course covers the concepts and
evolution of architectural design from early Egyptian structures to contemporary
residential dwellings. The student
studies design principles, architectural styles, materials, the techniques of
building construction and the aesthetic factors which influence good design. They are taught to consider variables such as
solar orientation, traffic patterns of people and vehicles, the local
ecological system, zones and codes,
material appearance, etc.. The
student is given design and drawing tasks which will challenge their
understanding and skills.
