The
Mission
• To create and foster a culture of literacy among students,
faculty, staff and administrators that recognizes and supports the varied
learning styles and needs of our students
• To create awareness and understanding of literacy barriers and approaches
and the need for strong literacy skills in all aspects of learning
• To recognize and students’ and teachers’ literacy skills and abilities
dictated by the changing world
• To specifically address the particular literacy requirements of numeracy,
information and research skills and media
• To support our educators in their quest to meet the discipline-specific
literacy challenges of our students
