How to Add or Use a Printer at SPHS

1 - If the printer you want to use is not in the Printer List, you need to add it.
2 - Some printers are designated as "public" and are available to students. Others are for staff use only and are not available to students.
3 - When printing you must authenticate using your Network Logon Name and Network Password.

Add a Printer (MAC)

You must use a web browser to add a printer (Firefox seems to work best).

1 - Go to the Add Printer page in your web browser (link follows the directions)

2 - - Find the printer you want to add in the list and click on the link.  In the sample here, we are addding the "Library" printer. Student may use those printers indicated as "public".

3 - When asked if you wish to install it, click the "OK" buttom.

4 - You will be asked to enter your Network User Name and Network Password.  Then click the "Continue" button.  Note: The user names "student" and "teacher" will not work here.

5 - In a few moments you will see this message. Click the "OK" button.  You should now be all set to print.

6 - The printer is ready to use.

7 - The URL to the add printer page is: http://highschoolprinters.spso.org/ipp

8- If you try to add a printer that you do not have access to, you will see this message.

Authenticate if you are using a "public" laptop (MAC)

1 - Go to [File] -> [Print] or use the <P> key stroke to open the "Print" dialog box, select the printer, and click the "Print" button.

2 - You will be asked to enter your Network User Name and Network Password.  Then click the "Continue" button.  Note: The user names "student" and "teacher" will not work here.  Do NOT check the "Add Password to keychain" check box.

3 - If you have permission to use this printer, your job will print.

4 - If you do not have permission to use this printer, your job will stay in the print queue. Open "Printer Manager" for that printer, click on the print job in the list, and click the "Delete" button.

1 - Go to [File] -> [Print] or use the <P> key stroke to open the "Print" dialog box, select the printer, and click the "Print" button.
